The Banks Mansion in Amsterdam – Welcome Home!

Our stay at Banks Mansion was one for the books. It’s the kind of hotel we can only hope to be able to stay at time and time again. After looking at their pictures, reading reviews and checking out their website we had such high expectations, and we were still blown away.

A closer look into what makes Banks Mansion such an ideal place to stay while in Amsterdam

Top Notch Customer Service

Their customers service is top notch. We had so many emails back and forth because our plans kept changing. At first we were going to fly in, and then train in and then eventually we settled on driving in (from Paris). We were concerned because there is no parking on the premises and we know how Amsterdam is not really driver friendly. We had no intention of using our car during our stay, but our road trip was starting the day we were checking out so it made the most sense to have the car from the beginning.

Everyone was so helpful with their suggestions about what to do with the car (even had a detailed list of prices depending on what we decided to do). We ended up using an off site valet service and Banks Mansion made all of the arrangements for us! We told them the approximate time of our arrival (which changed twice due to sight seeing) and someone was waiting for us outside the hotel when we pulled up- we didn’t have to do a thing!

All Of The Amenities

Check in was fast, easy and friendly. We were given a break down of their “your home away from home”, some directions to sites in our area, our room key and off we went. We stayed in a deluxe room with a canal view that had decanters with whiskey, cognac and gin, as well as a mini bar that was all included. If you know us, you know we were in heaven! Nothing could beat that view though! Having that crisp autumn air flowing through the room while looking at the canal became one of our favorite past times, but our room also had air conditioning if we needed it.

After getting settled we realized it was happy hour in the lobby. Everyday from 5-6 the hotel brings out a delicious cheese and fruit platter and serves a different snack, like soup or bitterballen. We filled up our plates, poured ourselves a glass of wine from the 24 hour self service bar and sat by the fire. We had a lovely evening chatting with all the other hotel guests, it felt like we were sitting in our living room at home, among friends.

The Perfect Start To Any Day

Our mornings were one of our favorites at Banks Mansion. Their breakfast buffet was unlike any other we’ve had at any hotel. They had a huge spread of cheeses, meats, breads and fruits. They also had an amazing hot station with crepes, eggs, omelettes and french toast. Oh, and the amazing coffee and freshly squeezed orange, yeah, delicious! We are not morning people, but we didn’t skip breakfast once.. haha!

Location – Location – Location

As if we weren’t convinced already at how amazing Banks Mansion is, we finally stepped outside to start site seeing. We couldn’t believe how central we were. Everything was within walking distance and there was another gorgeous canal at every turn. The location is lined with fantastic restaurants and tons of shopping!

If we are ever lucky enough to be in Amsterdam in the future, we will undoubtably being staying at Banks Mansion. It’s affordable luxury with the feeling of being at home.
