Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City – The Royal Treatment

Located within the business, historic and cultural center of the city,  Little America Hotel offers more than 850 luxurious rooms to what, at first, seemed to be a discerning professional clientele looking to host or attend meetings and conventions. We were wrong and that’s a good thing 🙂

At first glance, the hotel is indeed the perfect place for business minded folks with its many rooms for networking and a huge lobby area and lounge where deals are clearly struck. The second glance is where we come in: Little America Hotel also offers their guests different packages such as The Getaway Package, the Romance Package and the Sunrise Package. This place is the perfect much needed getaway – for example, the romance package includes a single rose, a bottle of sparkling cider, rose petal turndown service, a platter with assorted chocolates and complimentary valet parking and it starts at $154 – click here to learn more about the many packages.

We drove into Salt Lake City late and had no trouble finding the Little America. The soothing voice of our GPS finally saying “You have arrived at your destination on your right, Little America Hotel“. It was just passed 9PM and we were hungry. The check in process was a breeze and took 60 seconds flat. As we gathered our luggage and were given our keycards, we casually asked about food. The front desk clerk mentioned that the Lucky H Bar & Grille’s kitchen was open until 10PM and we definitely should experience it.

Lucky H Bar & Grille

The restaurant was not busy as most patrons were now mingling and having after dinner drinks on the bar side. We both ordered the filet with some wine and an escargot appetizer.

The decor was warm and inviting and the food was delicious. We had been on the road for most of the day by that point and the whole ambiance was definitely a welcome change. Prices were reasonable and the food was on point.

The Room

Our room was located on the 17th floor and is what the hotel considers a Tower King room. The website says the room is 600 square feet but it feels more like 1200, as you can see below in our slideshow. The staff had also prepared a lovely welcome package complete with fruits, water bottles, a cheese platter and delicious cupcakes. There are plenty of outlets with USB connections in every corner. The bathroom in our room was in two parts:

1- the hamper, closet, sink, safe, mini fridge and coffee machine.
2- another sink, toilet, bathtub and shower.

Catching some zzzz’s..

The bed is as comfy as it looks and we had two very relaxing nights here (Michelle had trouble getting out of bed it was so comfortable). The view at the top of the building is one of the city and to the left, the surrounding mountains – it’s breathtakingly gorgeous.

The Lobby

The lobby is as welcoming as the room, with soft lighting, wood and leather couches, all with a very pronounced “outdoorsy feel” which come to think of it fits perfectly in Utah. We could only imagine ending our ski day with a coffee in hand and do our people watching comfortably seated in front of a fireplace. Now if only we skied 😉

Starting at 6AM, the Coffee Shop offers a full breakfast menu complete with traditional eggs and pancakes to pastries and fresh fruits and parfaits. The prices are extremely reasonable and seating is abundant and comfortable which makes it a perfect place to start your day.

Discovering Salt Lake City and Its Surroundings

The city of Salt lake is beautiful, incredibly clean and has a “new” feel to it. We recommend parking your car at the City Creek Center Mall and walk all over from there. There are some incredible views at every corner with beautiful snow mountains nestling the city and beautiful architecture from various eras.

We also recommend you drive to the Great Salt Lake State Park (which is 35 minutes from Little America Hotel) and get those beauty shots of the lake. Primetime is 30 minutes before sunsets, trust us!

We met up with a wonderful couple, John and Tasha (and their adorable daughter Addie) who spent the afternoon with us showing us around their unforgettable city. They have a fun instagram travel account as well, check them out on Instagram and on their blog here.

Last Words

After spending a long week end in busy Las Vegas, being able to relax and unwind in Salt Lake City was exactly what we needed. Little America Hotel provided us with more than we could imagine. From the cloud like down pillows to the clean, modern yet elegant, classy and inviting rooms, Little America Hotel leaves nothing to her desired and should be at the top of your list of hotels to experience in Salt Lake City.

* We were invited by Hotel Little America to experience their accomodations in exchange for our honest review.
